Proficiency in Medical First Aid
Course Overview
The course provides training in immediate first aid in the event of an accident or medical emergency on board a ship.
It is required by those responsible or with designated duties for providing first aid on vessels operating within 150 miles of a safe haven.
This course is a prerequisite for Certificates of Competency for Deck and Engineering Officer for fishing and merchant vessels.
The training will be organised so that, by assessment and practical demonstration, trainees are able to show that they meet the outcomes and learning objectives required by the MNTB training course criteria.

Practical and written exam
Other fees and requirements
This course also requires:
- Passport size photo with candidate’s name on the back
- Be over the age of 16
- Candidates should have completed STCW 2010/95 Elementary First Aid.
Upon successful completion of the four-day course you will gain the Proficiency in Medical First Aid. Certificates will be sent directly to candidates.
