Course Certification and Compliance
This course meets the RYA requirements and a certificate will be issued to those who complete the course successfully.
Course Aim
The objective of this course is for you to understand the basic principles of the diesel engine by building your knowledge and using a practical approach. Our friendly and experienced tutors will help you learn to diagnose a simple fault and do the basic maintenance on a small marine diesel engine. Helping you to prevent breakdown at sea and to solve engine failures without needing workshop support.

- The four-stroke cycle
- The fuel system
- The cooling system
- The air systems
- Engine electrical systems
- Spares and tool requirements
- Importance of winterisation and servicing
- Fault finding
