RYA Radar
One-day course in the use of Radar to aid navigation
RYA Radar One-Day Course - no prerequisite knowledge.
This one-day training session will make use of our Radar Simulator equipment (RYA Approved) and tutor experience and knowledge to help you understand how to use your Radar equipment to help watchkeeping and navigation.
Course Certification and Compliance
This course meets the RYA requirements and a certificate will be issued to those who complete the course successfully.
Course Aim
The objective of this course is for you to understand the use of Radar in small boats and how to use the Radar as an aid to navigation and watch keeping.

- Components of your Radar equipment
- Target definition and discrimination
- Radar reflectors
- Types of Radar display
- Radar plotting
- Radar in navigating
- Range and bearing from Radar
- Collision avoidance
