Seafood Cornwall Training

Fishing industry training in cornwall

Seafood Cornwall Training Ltd is a not-for-profit, commercial fisheries training school based in Newlyn at the heart of Cornwall’s Fishing Industry.

Our Trainers are highly experienced experts at what they do and many have skippered their own vessels for years.

We have been training and supporting fishermen and onshore workers from across the county and the Isles of Scilly since 2009 and are an approved training provider for both Seafish and the MCA.

Seafood Cornwall Training regularly run all the mandatory STCW safety training courses, that any new fisherman must complete before going to sea.

We also provide a range of voluntary, professional development courses, to help experienced fishermen keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date. Our courses take place in Newlyn, Newquay and at other venues around Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

In addition to providing training, we work closely with other organisations to support people involved in the fishing industry in a variety of ways.  Together with our partners, we can help fishermen access funding, support you in improving safety on board, and help with access to health and wellbeing services for fishermen and their families.

Have a look at the bottom of this page for our next course dates or get in touch with us if you have any questions or would like help booking your training.

Seafood Cornwall Training offer all the mandatory safety training that fishermen must complete as they start their career.

Before you are legally allowed to start on a boat, you must complete a one-day Sea Survival and Personal Survival Techniques course.

After that, you must go on to complete the other mandatory courses:
